Restin' Runner

Today is a day of rest - Sunday is never a day of rest for a runner, so this week it is today.  I reflect on the fact that i am told that a day of rest is good as it helps your body to repair the little tears to your muscles - lets hope that the healing process is effective as I hit the road in 9 hours time.   Watch out Eyebrook here I come!

'Whatevering'

I recently bought a new shirt for running and on the label it gave a list of potential uses - running, cycling, walking, skiing ......... and 'whatevering'.  I can only think that is what you do when you look out the window at the driving rain and debate the merits of going out for a run.  Well i repeated yesterday's run tonight (with a slightly smaller deviation) and did it 2 minutes quicker!  As my daughter might say ' whatever...'

Summer Running

Tonights run saw me take in 5 miles from home a mix of hills and flat running with the spectacular view of Harringworth Viaduct (all 85 or so arch's).  It was lovely to run with the sun on your back at 7:30 in the evening - first time this year.  Our club will be running the 'Rutland Round' over the early summer months and this run just got me in the mood.

Inspiration

I actually ran this morning and I did a 5.5 mile hilly run with 11 Rutland Runners from Braunston-in-Rutland.  It was warm and sunny.  I was inspired on my run by the words of my son as I left my house, who remarked 'perhaps you shouldn't wear the shirt from yesterday it shows your wobbly stomach!' He assured me it was helpful advice!  No doubt I provide him with plenty too!

So bye for now the 'Portly' Runner.

Prelude

So my quest begins - I have emailed all my running club colleagues to tell them that I plan to qualify for Boston and that the quest will begin with the Berlin Marathon - so there is no going back!

I woke this morning (5:45) and ran about 6 miles (I need to measure it) from Uppingham School towards Stoke Dry and through Lyddington back. The best part about the run (other than running with my friend Schneider - who was rather quiet for the first two miles), is a long down hill into Lyddington, where you can let yourself go! It was warm and sunny.

I next plan to run tomorrow evening
